The claim was referred to the city attorney. . -"'- The city attorney was ordered -to put into resolution form the matter of paving North Orange street. : . Outhouses in the city for some time have' been causing trouble, and the matter was discussed at somo length. The matter was referred to the city health officer, who may order them jtll removed. Uurtiis:), who will conduct the business at the same old stand. Although the Her man brothers hail from llarrislmrg. yet they are not unknown to tho buy ing public, as M. M. llcrinan has been in the employ of Mr. Settle, the for mer proprietor, for some time past and is an experienced harness and saddle maker. Mr. Settle is as yet undecided as to what he will do, but after a few weeks' outing on the coast will undoubtedly engage in some line of business in Medford. There is considerable talk of east ern capitalists taking over the Big Raleigh property and building a rail road to connect with tho l'acil'ic & Eastern, a distance of about L" miles. Tho Bullion Hill proerty, owned by A. B. Saliug and company, is also being opened up and is showing high values. Many companies are in process of incorporation and considerable ex citement is manifested. : Medford has tributary to it huge properties rich in copper and gold, and with the con struction of railroads this city will leap a rich harvest. TELEGRAPHER ARRESTED FOR STEALING SECRETS PHILADELPHIA. Pa.. Sept. 8. John P. Altbcrgcr, superintendent of the Philadelphia district of the West ern Union Telegraph company, was arrested today and held in $."l)00 hail on the chargo of diverting private information from tho Western Union company's wires.
